Privacy & Terms

Last updated: 16 October 2026

This page explains, in plain English, what happens to the information you send us through loulanexpeditions.com — and the terms on which we prepare quotations and run journeys. If anything here is unclear, write to wanhuigege@outlook.com and we will explain it.

1Who we are

LOULAN EXPEDITIONS is the inbound arm of 极野至 (Jiyezhi), a photography travel house based in Urumqi, Xinjiang, China, operating through 海口胜驰科技有限公司 (Haikou Shengchi Technology Co., Ltd.). We are the controller of the personal information described below — meaning we decide why and how it is used.

2What we collect

We only collect what you choose to send us, plus a small amount of technical information that comes with the visit. Specifically:

We do not ask for passport numbers, payment card details or identity documents through this website. If a journey is confirmed, we will tell you exactly what is needed and how to send it safely.

3Why we use it

We use your email address only to send you your proposal and to correspond about your journey. We do not add you to a newsletter, and we do not send marketing email.

4How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are kept for up to 24 months so we can pick up an old conversation if you come back, and are then deleted. Records connected to a journey that ran are kept as long as accounting and permit rules require. You can ask us to delete your information sooner — see section 7.

5Who we share it with

Our team works from China, so the information you send is processed there. If you would prefer to keep certain details out of email, tell us and we will find another way to collect them.

6Your browser & cookies

This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. It uses a single entry in your browser's local storage (key lp_utm_v1) to remember how you first found us, so that if you come back and fill in the form later, we still know which link brought you. It contains no personal information, it stays on your device, and clearing your browser data removes it.

7Your rights

You can ask us to:

Write to wanhuigege@outlook.com with the words “privacy request” in the subject line. We will acknowledge it and answer within 12 hours (GMT+8). We may ask a question or two to confirm it is really you.

8Terms of quotation & booking

These are the short, honest versions of the terms that also appear in full in your written quotation.

Quotations

Every private journey is tailored by route, season and standard of service, so we do not list prices here. We issue a written quotation after a short consultation, and it states exactly what is and is not included. A quotation is an offer to plan, not a booking.

Payment

The accepted payment methods, the deposit and the balance schedule are fixed in your written quotation before you commit anything. Nothing is payable until you have that document in front of you.

Permits and access

Certain areas of Xinjiang are protected or restricted and are open by permit only. We help you apply and we handle the paperwork, but permits are issued by the local authorities and are not guaranteed. Some restricted zones are open to domestic travellers only. We will tell you honestly what is possible before you commit, and we do not promise access we cannot deliver.

Changes, weather and authority decisions

Wild country and long roads mean plans sometimes have to move. Itineraries may be adjusted for weather, road or permit conditions, or for decisions taken by the authorities. Where that happens we will offer you the closest equivalent and explain why.

Travel insurance

We ask every guest to travel with their own travel and medical insurance. Tell us if you would like help understanding what your policy needs to cover.

Cancellation

Cancellation and rescheduling terms — including any deposit that becomes non-refundable and the dates on which that happens — are set out in your written quotation. Ask us about them before you pay anything; we would rather explain than surprise you.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for holding a valid visa and the entry documents your nationality requires, for meeting the fitness requirements of the journey you choose, and for telling us about any medical condition that could affect it.

Governing law

Journeys are contracted in the People's Republic of China and governed by its law.

Changes to this page

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be reflected in your quotation correspondence as well.

One line to remember: we use what you send us to prepare your journey and for nothing else. If you want it deleted, ask — wanhuigege@outlook.com.
